Tolerance in Motion

The Tolerance traveling poster show is a socially driven initiative that asks prominent designers from around the world to create artworks with the word Tolerance in their language.

Founded and curated by Mirko Ilic, Tolerance Poster Show has been traveling a lot. In two and half years the show had 62 exhibitions in 27 countries that were seen by over 100,000 people.

The show is constantly growing, adding more and more authors to its collection, so it always feels vibrant, as it is fed by a wide range of artworks that arrive from different countries, cultural backgrounds, and social groups. Every new exposition is hosted in a different city, which gives a show a fresh perspective with each new exhibit, but at the same time, each exhibition is presenting its own set of unique installation challenges.

The show features works by prominent designers from around the world. These are artists like Milton Glaser, David Tartakover, Yuko Shimizu, Paula Scher, Istvan Orosz, Peter Bankov, Jianping He, Fons Hickmann, Michel Bouvet, Chaz Maviyanne-Davies, Anette Lenz, Hamzah Abdelal, Saki Mafundikwa, Xiao Yong, Reza Abedini, Sarp Sozdinler, Slavimir Stojanovic, Niklaus Troxler, Seymour Chwast, Dan Reisinger, Steff Geissbuhler, Drew Hodges, Pekka Loiri, Marian Bantjes, Alex Jordan, Uwe Loesch, Jessica Hische, Tom Geismar, Boris Bucan, Kit Hinrichs, and Alain Le Quernec, among many others.

Graphic art with its strong message can make a powerful impact even though Tolerance is something that is not that easy to define, but maybe it can make us more tolerant as we continue to try. Let’s hope that one day it will stop being a concept and become a state of mind.
