Housed by the Riverside Art Museum, ECO-ART: GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR CHANGE exhibition was centered on design as a form of fine art, situated within the increasingly relevant and educational context of environmental awareness and sustainable lifestyle.
January 19 – March 24, 2013 | Riverside, CA | Curator: Olga Severina, Producer: Paul Dimalanta
In early 2013 Riverside Art Museum showcased approximately 100 posters that promote environmental awareness and sustainable lifestyle. The main focus of this exhibit was to advocate for the ecological values central to the global environment and publicize design as a vehicle for awareness and actionable outcomes rather than its traditionally held passive role in consumer advertising
Designed by renowned international artists, posters in this exhibit were all part of a collections formed by an Eco-Poster Competition The 4th Block, held every three years in Ukraine. The 4th Block is an international poster exhibition with worldwide engagement and more than 20 years of history, which brings together the latest trends and innovations in international environmental poster. The project is named after a reactor (or block in Russian) number 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant that exploded on April 26, 1986.
