In 2022, the Department of Design of the Don State Technical University, together with the
International Public Association “Union of Designers”, is holding an exhibition and competition
project “Form=Context”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the German industrial designer Dieter
Rams. In the history of world design, Rams is an iconic figure who defined the conceptual principles
of neo-functionalism. He formulated 10 rules of good design, which have become a formula for the
quality of any art and design form.
Over the years the project has been attended by designers, architects and artists from 23 countries,
including Australia, Austria, Argentina, Bangladesh; Belarus, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Israel, Iran,
Italy, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Russia, USA, Turkey, Ukraine,
Switzerland, Japan.
In 2022, entries will be accepted in five categories – Poster, Object, Environment, Photography,
Motion. Traditionally, the project has two parts – an exhibition for professional participants and a
competition for students and recent graduates of specialized universities.
The works of the contestants are evaluated by an international professional jury, co-chaired by
Besarion Chokhoevich Meskhi, rector of the Don State Technical University, and Alexander
Veniaminovich Bobykin, President of the International Public Association “Union of Designers”. In
each nomination of the competition, winners and prize-winners are determined, who become
exhibitors of the final exhibition along with professionals.
The pride of the organizers are the partners of the event: the Moscow Encyclopedia Cultural
Foundation, the Russian Union of Architects, the China Europe International Design Culture
Association (CEIDA) and the Zhengzhou Graphic Design Association.
Participation is free of charge. As a result of the project, an electronic catalog is created, which is
sent to participants in all cities and countries.
